33 Things You Might Not Know About Cambridge

I cannot praise Abby + Owen enough. They produced 33 stunning illustrations that captured exactly what I wanted!

"33 Things You Didn't Know About Cambridge" is an illustration-led book that takes readers on a journey through the city's rich history and achievements. We were commissioned by Patrick Pordage, head of marketing at CMR Surgical, to illustrate this intriguing book.

The book showcases Cambridge’s role in pioneering technologies such as IVF and iris recognition, contributions from notable figures such as Alan Turing and Stephen Hawking, as well as the city's vibrant culture.

Incredible Cambridge

With a total of six languages covered between two book variants, the book caters to an international audience. Each illustration takes up one whole page, with the opposite page featuring a short explanatory text in three different language translations. This results in a clean, minimal and contemporary layout.

The book features our 33 illustrations which implement CMR Surgical's striking brand colours, each capturing the spirit of Cambridge as a historic university town, a magnet for bright minds, a technology hub, and a centre for creative revolutionaries.

We produced illustrations including iconic landmarks such as Footlights, the Mathematical Bridge, and King's College Chapel, as well as CMR Surgical's own Versius Surgical Robot, which embodies the company's mission to "Transform Surgery. For Good".

According to our client, Patrick from CMR Surgical, "Beyond the stunning work they produced, Abby+Owen were friendly, super-easy to work with, and went over and above in their delivery, all within a cost-efficient budget. I'd thoroughly recommend".

The finished book provides a glimpse into what makes Cambridge so special to all those who call it home and to those who visit.
